No matter where you go anywhere in the world you will find a country that has many different religions. England was the birthplace of Christianity is also home to many different religions. Back in the 3rd century the Catholic Church was started and there were only three different types of religion all based off of the Christian religion. Today there are religions that come from Christianity but from other parts of the world was well.

There is of course Christianity and under this religion you will find Anglican, these members are represented by the Church of England and they are considered the established church. The church is represented in the United Kingdom Parliament and the British Monarch is a member of the Church as well as they are the Supreme Governor. Under Christianity you will also find Presbyterian and Congregationalism, in Scotland the Presbyterian Church of Scotland is a recognized as the national church. It is not under state control and the British Monarch is considered to be an ordinary member.

Roman Catholics and the church are a separate but are recognized as national churches in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland and this means that there is not a single hierarchy for the Roman Catholics in the United Kingdom. The Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales is the second largest Christian Church with 5 million members. The Methodism can be traced back to the 18th century and today the Methodist church of Great Britain includes the Channel Islands, Isles of Man, Malta and Gibraltar. This church has 270,000 members and over 6,000 churches.

There is also a chapter of the latter Day Saints they have been in the British Isles since 1837, by 1900 there were 100,000 people that had converted over but a large number of these people migrated to the United States to join the main church. There are a little over 186,000 members today and they are housed in the Gadfield Elm Chapel in Worcestershire, which is the oldest chapel of the LDS Church.

In the United Kingdom today there are over 2.7 Muslims and many of them are practicing Islam. In the years from 2001 and 2009, the number of Muslims increased 10 times faster than any other population. The Muslim Council of Britain is an umbrella group for many of the local, regional and specialist Islam organizations today.

There are so many religions that we could not mentioned due to lack of space but some of the other religions in the United kingdom are Jediism, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. The world is filled with different religions and everyone is entitled to what they believe in. We live in a world today where many people are intolerant of other people's beliefs, if we stopped to understand the basics of the religions we say we hate then the world would be a better place.
